About This Tour

This Mount Triglav 2-day climb from Bled takes you to the top of Slovenia’s highest peak with an IFMGA-certified mountain guide. Triglav is a national symbol and the country’s most popular ascent. But the last part is a via ferrata, so you need technical gear and someone who knows the route. The trip suits fit hikers who want to reach the summit without planning the logistics themselves.

Day 1: Krma Valley to Kredarica

You leave Bled early in the morning and drive to Krma Valley in Triglav National Park. From there it’s about 6 hours of hiking, with short breaks, up to the Kredarica hut (Triglavski dom na Kredarici). The afternoon is free. You rest, eat dinner at the hut and sleep there, close to the summit.

Day 2: Summit and Descent

Early the next morning you climb to the top of Triglav, which takes about 4 hours. This is where the Triglav via ferrata comes in, and the guide provides the harness, helmet and lanyards. Then you walk about 4 hours back down to Krma Valley and ride back to Bled. Your guide takes photos with a professional camera along the way, and you keep them.

Brilliant way to experience Slovenia's heights

We had two wonderful guides – Nastja who took us up to the Kredarica mountain hut, and Matevz who then took us to the top and back down again. Both were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us feel like we were in tremendously safe hands, and allowed us to just enjoy the mountains. All the logistics were sorted and straightforward, and they adapted the timings to make sure we got the best weather and the best experience. Thanks both for this amazing experience!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this climb not for?

It’s a long, demanding climb. It’s not a good fit if you:

  • have back problems
  • are pregnant
  • have heart problems or another serious medical condition
  • are not used to long hiking days

You need a moderate fitness level for about 6 hours of hiking on day 1 and about 8 hours on day 2.

What should I bring?

  • Good hiking shoes
  • Warm clothes, a windproof jacket and a fleece, even if it’s hot in the valley
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
  • About 2 liters of water
  • Snacks and sandwiches
  • A backpack
  • Money for the hut stay and food

Can I rent hiking gear?

Yes. You can rent hiking shoes and trekking poles at the operator’s office. Poles are not required, but they help on the long descent. The via ferrata set (harness, helmet, lanyards) is already part of the tour.

Where can I get water and food on the way?

You can refill water at wells along the route or buy drinks at the hut. Dinner is at Kredarica hut and you pay for it there. Bring your own snacks for the hiking time.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The start time depends on the weather. Guides plan the climb around the conditions, and past travelers say the timing was adjusted to get the best weather. If the tour is canceled because the minimum number of travelers isn’t met, you get a different date or a full refund.

Why climb Triglav in 2 days instead of 1?

Splitting the climb means you sleep at Kredarica hut, close to the summit. So you start the summit push early and rested on day 2, instead of doing the full ascent and descent in one very long day.

What is the cancellation policy?

  • Cancel at least 24 hours before the start time for a full refund.
  • Less than 24 hours before: no refund.
  • Changes less than 24 hours before the start are not accepted.
