Zipline Slovenia Guide: Bovec, Bled or Planica?
Slovenia’s best ziplines are all in the Julian Alps: Zipline Dolinka near Bled, two big parks above Bovec (Učja Canyon and Krnica under Mt. Kanin), and the Planica Zipline near Kranjska Gora. If you want the biggest zipline Slovenia has to offer, go to Bovec. If you want the easiest one to reach, pick Bled. And if you only have an hour, Planica is short, steep and fast.
Below is what each park is like, how to get there, when to go, how long it takes, what it costs and who it suits.
Ziplining in Slovenia: the basics
All the main parks work the same way. You meet at a base, get a harness, helmet and pulley, and do a short practice line first. Then guides take you along a set route of lines, one after another. You don’t need any experience.
The differences are in the details:
- Number of lines: from one long descent (Planica) to ten lines (Učja).
- Time: from about 45 minutes to around 3 hours or more.
- Setting: river valleys, a canyon, a high alpine valley or a ski-flying hill.
- Access: a short drive from Bled, a 4×4 ride above Bovec, or a chairlift at Planica.
You’ll see “longest” and “biggest in Europe” on more than one website. Both the Bled and Bovec operators use claims like this. Treat them as marketing and compare the actual numbers instead.
Zipline Bled: Zipline Dolinka
Zipline Dolinka is the main zipline Bled option. It runs along the valley of the Sava Dolinka river, a short drive from Lake Bled.
What to expect
- 7 lines with a total length of about 4 km.
- Six of the seven lines cross the Sava Dolinka river.
- Short walks through forest and meadows between lines.
- The route passes through a protected natural area, and guides explain the local wetland and plant life.
- The tour takes about 2.5 hours.
The meeting point is at Cesta svobode 1, near the Bled bus station. From there, a van takes the group about ten minutes to the start. After a 20-metre test ride, the real lines begin.
Tour types
Besides the classic tour, the operator offers a family tour for kids aged 6 and up, a sunset tour and a private tour for your own group. The family tour is a good pick if your kids are too young for the bigger parks in Bovec.
Other ziplines around Bled
The Adventure Park Bled on Straža hill is a rope park in the trees, with climbing courses and short ziplines. It’s not a big zipline tour like Dolinka, but it works well for families with younger children. You can reach it by chairlift or on foot from town in about 20 minutes.

Zipline Bovec: Učja Canyon and Krnica
Bovec, in the Soča Valley, is Slovenia’s outdoor sports base. It has two separate zipline parks, run by different operators. Both are bigger than anything else in the country. That’s why zipline Bovec is the top search for anyone serious about it.
Učja Canyon zipline
This park sits above the Učja river valley, a protected area near Bovec.
- 10 lines, each 250-600 m long, about 4 km in total.
- Some lines run up to around 200 m above the river.
- You drop about 250 m in altitude over the whole route.
- The tour takes about 2-2.5 hours, plus check-in.
- Transport from Bovec to the start is included.
Reviews often point to the last lines, which run through the narrow gorge, as the best part.
Krnica zipline (Mt. Kanin)
The second park is higher up, in the Krnica valley between Mt. Kanin and Mt. Rombon.
- 5 lines, each about 550-700 m long, about 3 km in total.
- Lines run roughly 200 m above the ground.
- Speeds can reach around 64 km/h.
- A 4×4 ride of about 20 minutes and a short walk take you to the first platform.
- The route ends about 300 m lower, above the Kanin gondola station.
- Plan for 2.5-3.5 hours in total, including transport.
Učja or Krnica?
- Pick Učja for more lines, a canyon setting and more variety.
- Pick Krnica for fewer but longer and faster lines, with high mountain views.
Both are good. If you’re staying in Bovec for a few days, it’s possible to do both.

Kranjska Gora: Planica Zipline
The Planica Zipline is a few minutes’ drive from Kranjska Gora, at the Planica Nordic Centre. It runs down the Gorišek Brothers ski-flying hill, one of the biggest ski jumps in the world. It’s often called the steepest zipline in the world, because it follows the profile of the jump.
- One descent of 566 m.
- 202 m drop in altitude.
- Top measured speed of about 85 km/h.
- A chairlift takes you to the top in about 8 minutes.
- The whole visit takes about 45 minutes.
It’s very different from Bled and Bovec. There’s no guided walk and no series of lines. It’s one fast ride, close to the surface of the jump. Good if you’re short on time or want to combine it with a visit to the ski jumps and the Planica valley.
Tandem rides are available, so younger children can ride with an adult.
Which zipline in Slovenia should you choose?
- Staying in Bled or Ljubljana: Zipline Dolinka. It’s the easiest to reach.
- Want the biggest experience: Bovec. Učja has the most lines, Krnica the longest ones.
- Short on time: Planica. About 45 minutes from start to finish.
- Travelling with young kids: the Dolinka family tour, the tandem at Planica or the rope park on Straža.
- Combining with other sports: Bovec, where rafting, kayaking and canyoning are all close by.
How to get there
Bled
Bled is about an hour from Ljubljana by car or bus. The Dolinka meeting point is near the Bled bus station, so you can walk there from town.
Bovec
Bovec is the hardest to reach. It’s about two hours by car from Bled. In summer, the scenic route goes over the Vršič Pass from Kranjska Gora. The pass is usually closed in winter, so check road conditions first. Public transport to Bovec is limited, so most people drive or book a transfer. Once you’re in Bovec, the zipline operators drive you to the start.
Kranjska Gora and Planica
Planica is about 10 minutes by car from Kranjska Gora and about an hour from Ljubljana. There’s parking at the Nordic Centre. A car is the easiest option here.
No car? A private sightseeing tour can cover Bled, Kranjska Gora, Vršič and the Soča Valley in one day, at your own pace.
Best time to go
- Bled: Zipline Dolinka runs from late March to late November in 2026, 9:00-19:00.
- Bovec: the main season is roughly April to October. Some operators run longer. Check dates directly.
- Planica: open from May until the winter season starts. Daily in summer, but hours depend on the weather.
The best months are May-June and September-October. It’s warm enough, there are fewer people and tours sell out less. July and August are the busiest, so book early. Autumn colours in the Soča Valley are a bonus.
Tours can be cancelled in bad weather, especially storms. The operator decides on the day.
How long does it take?
- Zipline Dolinka (Bled): about 2.5 hours.
- Učja Canyon (Bovec): about 2-2.5 hours, plus check-in 30 minutes before.
- Krnica (Bovec): about 2.5-3.5 hours, including the 4×4 ride.
- Planica (Kranjska Gora): about 45 minutes.
For Bled and Planica, half a day is enough. For Bovec, plan around the zipline and add another activity in the afternoon.

- Wear closed shoes. Trainers or hiking shoes. No sandals or flip-flops. Bled and Bovec tours include some walking.
- Dress for the mountains. It can be cooler and windier higher up, even in summer. Bring a light jacket.
- Leave bags behind. Small items should go in zipped pockets.
- Book ahead in summer. Planica requires advance booking, and Bled and Bovec often sell out in July and August.
- Arrive early. Some Bovec operators ask you to come 30 minutes before the start.
- Check minimum group sizes. Some Bovec tours need at least 2-4 people to run.
- Be honest about fear of heights. The lines in Bovec are high. If you’re unsure, start with Bled or Planica.
