This Postojna Cave, Predjama Castle and Piran day trip from Ljubljana covers three of Slovenia’s best-known sights in one day: a castle built into a cliff, a huge cave system and a small town on the Adriatic coast. It suits travelers without a car, or anyone who doesn’t want to plan transport, tickets and timing on their own. A guide and driver handle all of it.
Past travelers say the day is well organized and the time at each stop feels right, including enough time to see Piran. Several mention that lunch only happens around 2 pm, so it helps to bring a snack for the morning.
The walk inside the cave has slopes and some uphill parts, and the tour is not wheelchair accessible.

We had a great day trip from Ljubljana. The tour was very well organised and we loved the caves, castle and Piran. Our guide David was very helpful, and it is clear he loves doing the tours.
This tour was fantastic! The caves are beautiful and the castle is very unique. The timing at each location was perfect. Views at Piran were gorgeous. Our tour guide was fabulous!
This tour was very good. Castle and caves were really interesting and Piran was a lovely town. The tour guide was excellent providing excellent history and recommendations – and very personable. We enjoyed the tour very much.
Not really. The tour is not wheelchair accessible, and the walk inside Postojna Cave has long slopes and some uphill parts. It is also not recommended for travelers with back problems, heart problems or other serious medical conditions, or for pregnant travelers.
Food is not included. Lunch is in Piran, at your own expense and in your own time, usually around 2 pm.
This tour adds about three hours in Piran on the Adriatic coast, with a short walking tour and free time. So you see the caves, the castle and the sea in one trip, but the day is longer, about 10.5 hours.
It can be. Postojna is one of the most visited sights in Slovenia, and past travelers mention that the walking paths inside get busy. Expect to move with other groups for part of the visit.
The tour needs good weather. If it is canceled because of poor weather, you get a different date or a full refund. The same applies if the minimum number of travelers isn’t reached.
